Auditory Processing
Central auditory processing disorder (CAPD) is difficulty making sense of what you hear. Some examples include: difficulty listening in noise, frequently misunderstanding others, difficulty noticing different inflections (for instance: earnest comments vs sarcasm), and sensitivity to competing noise. Many people with CAPD have social anxiety and are mentally fatigued after periods of listening. CAPD can co-occur with hearing loss, but is not explained by conductive or sensorineural hearing loss. Book a complimentary consultation if you are wondering if distractibility, irritability, reading difficulties, and anxiety might be rooted in CAPD
